FAQs about dirt bike engine parts<

How do I know if my dirt bike needs an engine rebuild?

Wondering if your engine is past repair? A complete engine rebuild is a great solution to avoid mounting costs and ongoing repairs if your dirt bike engine when regular maintenance isn’t cutting it. Here’s how to decide if your engine needs a full rebuild.

  • Difficulty starting your engine — Spark plugs, dirty fuel, electrical issues, worn-out valves and leaking gaskets are all signs that your engine is on its last legs.

  • Weak engine power — Low engine power can be caused by blocked injectors or dirty air filters.

  • Excessive engine vibrations — Vibrations can be caused by loose frame bolts. If all your frame bolts are tight and your engine is still vibrating, your crankshaft or clutch basket may be loose.

  • Milky engine oil — This indicates a coolant leak, which means your water pump seal may need replacing. Too much leaking coolant can require an engine rebuild.

  • White or blue smoke — White smoke in your engine means that your gasket is leaking, causing your engine to burn coolant. Blue smoke means your engine is burning oil and is caused by worn-out rings and pistons, or leaking valve seals.

If these issues continue after replacing the dirt bike engine parts listed above, it might be time to rebuild your engine.

At Sun City Motorcycles, we stock a selection of engine rebuild kits to suit a range of dirt bikes and pit bikes. Explore the range and give your ride the engine it deserves — order online today!

How often should I replace my dirt bike’s oil filter?

Oil filters are one of the most important dirt bike engine parts and should be cleaned frequently to get the most out of each unit. We recommend replacing your oil filter every 5,000km or every second time you get your oil changed.
